- Identify the process
Although the decision to outline processes is a good step, the first real step is to choose the process to work with. It is advisable to outline the most important processes first. There are several categories of processes that require priority. For example, there may be reactive processes that cause bottlenecks in the daily activities that need to be addressed. Strategic processes can be outlined at a higher level. Processes that focus on customer focus are also important in BPM. Identify where exactly the process begins and where it ends. There may be processes with more than one end, identify all of them.
- Collect information
Because different people often work on the process, it is advisable to involve these people in BPM, time savings may be realized. Together with the people who are part of the process, study the identified actions from the previous step. Determine who does what when and where.
3. Record and arrange
After determining the process with start and end point, it is important to describe the steps that bring the process to an end. For each activity, use an action verb to describe the steps. Be as concrete as possible. In another document, the details for the actions can be discussed in more detail. Then take all steps in chronological order.
4. Draw the flowchart
